Lately, Salmon has been something we have been trying to incorporate into our diet more often. Recent studies show numerous benefits of eating salmon, including significant boosts to Brain, Heart, and Organ health. On top of Salmon being good for your health, it’s also delicious!

Today, Marble Meals would like to present to you just one of the many amazing ways  you can cook and serve salmon so everyone in the family, even those picky kids, can reap the health benefits of this amazing food! This Ginger, Garlic, and Herb Salmon, marinated in Teriyaki sauce and served on a bed of Turmeric infused rice, is sure to be a hit!

Although cookingand preparing your meal can be rewarding work, sometimes it’s necessary to save the time and have a premade meal. So without further adieu, here is a meal that will totally change your perspective on how to serve Salmon and is sure to satisfy!

 

The Marinade

First, we have to start with the marinade. When it comes to marinating your salmon it should sit for a minimum of one hour, with overnight marination giving the best results. 

To begin our marinade we must combine garlic, ginger, olive oil, basil and thyme. Take these ingredients and put them in a magic bullet or any kind of food processor, blending the ingredients until it achieves a thin paste consistency. Combine this paste with a Teriyaki sauce (we like Kikkoman Teriyaki Glaze or try an at home recipe here) and place in a bowl or large pan to marinate the Salmon.

 

The Prep

 

Next you are going to want to get your rice going. Combine rice (we prefer Jasmine for this recipe) with double the amount of water or stock, allow this to simmer until tender then add turmeric and mix. 

Following this you will want to begin prepping the vegetables of the dish. Begin with your Brussel Sprouts. In a hot pan sauté Brussels Sprouts until browned, add garlic, salt, pepper and oregano. Then, finish it off in the oven at 400F for 7 -10 minutes until softened but still with a crunch!

We will now use the same process we used to season the Brussel Sprouts for our peppers. Cut your peppers into preferred size pieces then in a hot pan with olive oil sauté the peppers, add garlic powder, salt and pepper to taste.

 

Wrapping Things Up

Now that everything is smelling great on it’s way to being finished, we want to cook the Salmon. Start by preheating your oven to 450F. Then get your Salmon from the fridge and put in a large pan or tray. Bake the Salmon for 5 minutes then finish on broil for 2-3 minutes for a nice crispy top. Check doneness using a digital thermometer, reaching an internal temperature between 130F-135F for medium well. 

Finally to top it off Slice lemon for garnish, sprinkle with chopped parsley, and Voila! You now have yourself a tasty Teriyaki Salmon meal. Enjoy!

INGREDIENTS

  • 1.5 lbs | 6x 4 oz. pieces of skinless salmon fillets
  • 2 pounds of Brussels sprouts
  • sweet red pepper
  • 2 cups of parboiled rice
  • 3/4 teaspoon of turmeric powder
  • 3 tablespoons of teriyaki sauce
  • 1″ nub of ginger
  • 4 whole garlic cloves
  • 3/4 teaspoon of garlic powder
  • 4 sprigs of thyme
  • 4 basil leaves
  • 3/4 teaspoon of dried oregano
  • 2 tablespoon of olive oil
  • 1 lemon for garnish
  • Parsley for garnish
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Combine garlic, ginger, olive oil, basil, thyme in a magic bullet or food processor until thin paste consistency. Marinate Salmon with garlic ginger paste and teriyaki sauce for 1 hour minimum or over night.
